Adding a link from popup

Hi
First of all thanks for providing such a super component - one of the best Joomla extensions I've come across.
I've seen a couple threads similar to the requirement I have, but these are not quite the same, so I thought I'd start a new thread.
I want to be able to have a link (and text label) associated with each image in the gallery (different links for different images). When a user clicks on the image in the gallery I want them to see the image pop up as normal, however when they click on the text label I would like it to follows the link held in the images description.
As a test I tried putting
<a href="http://www.google.com/ " target="_blank">Go to Google</a>
into an image's description, but when the image pop up is shown the link is lost and the text "Go to Google" is just displayed as plain text.
I appreciate there is a similar thread called "Images linked to external website" but the solution detailed here, the link activates when you click on the thumbnail image (and no pop is shown). What I want is to click on the thumbnail, see the image pop up and then be able to click the link for that image.
Is my requirement at all possible? The feature is important for the site I want to develop where images will be linked to different catalogs, the idea being the user can browse images and the be easily taken to the web page with the catalog for that product.
By the way , I'm currently using the Pirobox popup with the Classic gallery template but these can be changed if needed.
