embed in page doesn't respect template

I figured it out myself: the article format depends not on the main Control Panel but on the Plugin configuration...
When I menu-link to a gallery, the listed-2col. template comes out as it should. If I use the exact same settings in the main Control Panel and embed my gallery in an article (in order to faciliate printing), the template is not respected in 2 columns. Thanks for whatever suggestions.
ps - I really like Admiror for my clients because they can load photos easily as folders, do language-context descriptions, and easily use the Control Panel. Thanks!
