Admiror Gallery is free extension for Joomla! based websites. Admiror Gallery is all in one, a simple and instant solution for rendering image gallery from folder with images, but very flexible and adaptable.
Does somebody among you have strange behavior experience with Admiror Gallery as I do? This is what I did:
I had to develop my Joomla website along with the current website running in a sub-folder "new_website" created in the htdocs catalogue
The site is stored on a web hosting server
Admiror Gallery worked perfectly after installation, and the galleries were created successfully with the Image Manager
After the new website was finished, I had to switch the folders as follows to activate the new website with Admiror Gallery ---> htdocs temporary renamed to htdocs-old, then new empty htdocs folder was created in the web site root, after that the whole new website was moved into the new empty htdocs folder --- > the functionality of the new web site was checked, everything OK on the front-end
Now after all these procedures I cannot upload, delete any picture via Admiror Gallery Image Manager - the server responses either e.g. Delete failed: 'D7C_3044.jpg' or Warning: Failed to move file! when trying to upload a file
Hence I decided to change the access permissions (although when the new web site was developed, there was no need to set/change permissions at all) from 755 to 777 on the following folders: /images/stories/folder_with_pictures, /plugins/Content/AdmirorGallery/thumbs (to allow thumbnails creation)
The problem is still here. The only way how I can update my gallery is via FTP access
Please be kind enough and let me know where the poblem might be.
Many thanks for your nice support. I will try what you proposed, and then let you know if I succeed. Moreover, I submitted this issue to the web hosting provider, as I feel it has something to do with how PHP runs on Apache, not only the permissions what was originally supposed to be the problem. Please correct me, if I am wrong what I realized in the meantime hereinafter.
If PHP runs as Apache module, and when I create a new directory or a file using the Admin CP in Joomla, the owner is nobody:nobody because I created it via PHP script (Joomla - Admiror Gellery Component).
And when I upload the files via FTP, I login as a user and hence the owner of the files and folders is the user (me - different to nobody).
All of this makes troubles when a website is transferred from one folder to another via FTP, like I did. The solution might be to run PHP on Apache as CGI Binary. If so, all objects I create in the Admin CP with Admiror Gallery would have the same ownership set as the folders of the entire website structure that were created other than through Admin CP (Components). Am I right with this?
