Admiror Gallery cannot create thumbnails in

Hi,
I like the plugin, however, I keep bumping into a problem that the thumbnails cannot be created. The thumbnails are created in the directory within the Plugins folder
. Apparently all folders need 777 permissions in order for the thumbnails to be created. I still haven't found a satisfying solution for this. I don't feel comfortable using 777 permissions on folder. Second I'm using Admin Tools so with one click of the button on "Fix Permissions" and my whole website is full of errors.
How to solve this properly?
