Step-By-Step how to allow registered users to upload images?

Admiror Gallery is free extension for Joomla! 1.6. Joomla! 1.7 and Joomla! 2.5 based websites. Admiror Gallery is all in one, a simple and instant solution for rendering image gallery from folder with images, but very flexible and adaptable.

Step-By-Step how to allow registered users to upload images?

#1 Post by romannumeralus »

Thank you so much for your component. I would like to know how to do a specific task.

I would like to allow front-end users to simply upload an image into a selected, pre-defined gallery. What I mean is this:

1. Admin creates Gallery or List of Galleries for user to view/upload to.
2. User views or uploads an image to the selected Gallery.

This is all I want to do. I do not want the user to be able to delete, edit, view backend, or anything advanced like that. I only want them to be able to view the gallery, and see a simple upload field on the page and be able to use the form to add their image to the gallery. It would be great if the images could go into a queue to be approved or deleted by Administrator.

Is this possible? Thanks so much for your feedback. I've seen you're very responsive. We appreciate your work.

This is not possible with AdmirorGallery out of the box.

You would need some coding to be able to make this possible.

One idea, that comes to my mind is not to use Image Manager, but to create a new template and add this functionality.
I usually suggest people to take classic and derived from it. Because it is the most basic form of template.
So copy classic, rename it to classic_upload and try to add upload feature. List of available galleries could be managed by enabling albums and user can browse folders inside his root folder, upload will upload image to the currently viewed album, hope you get what I mean.
For admin queue, this is tricky. But definitely doable. On upload you can save image to some admin location and create XML to hold reference (who uploaded, path where should be uploaded) but you would need one more page in AdmirorGallery Control Panel to Accept or Decline images.

Hmm there is some work to make this possible, but it can be done. :) And if you manage to do all this, it would be great to share and post it here in template section :) Or as modified AdmirorGallery package :)
